This is the time of year that our desert comes alive. Wild flowers are in full bloom and if you’re willing to give your allergies a little test run, head out to the Bajada Nature Trail in north Scottsdale. This trail was constructed for the enjoyment of all — from young children to the elderly, and for those with physical challenges.

The trail is a celebration of this significant habitat, and an opportunity for people who have never dreamed they could enjoy an outdoor experience in the Preserve to experience the wonders of the desert. The trail was designed to serve those who are visually and hearing impaired, and wheelchair and walker accessible.

The Gateway Nature Trail is a half mile and if you seek a little more challenge add on the Gateway Loop Hike for a four-mile stroll through the beautiful desert.  There are ramadas for picnic lunches and restrooms.

After a great adventure in the desert, you can visit Chulula Seafood Grayhawk at 20581 N. Hayden Rd.  There you will find an amazing selection of fresh seafood.  And I really mean fresh, you’ll feel like you are in San Diego.  It is a little on the pricey side, but worth it.  I personally recommend the Swordfish Burrito.  They also feature a wide selection of seafood in their Fish Market to purchase and take home to prepare your favorite way.

Bajada Nature Trail is located on Thompson Peak Pkwy, between Bell Rd & Legacy Blvd McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Scottsdale, AZ 85254
